Female Hair Loss

With more men than women in Singapore balding, the emphasis on hair loss seems to be centred on male hair loss than female hair loss.

Do you know that all hair loss, be it male hair loss or female hair loss follows a pattern?

For male hair loss, the scale used as a bench is the Norwood/Hamilton Scale and that for less than 10% of the male hair loss sufferers, the scale used for them would be the Type A Pattern hair loss (more seldom known scale, but its a pattern where the hair recedes from front to back).

And for female hair loss sufferers, the Lugwig scale applies to a majority of female hair loss sufferers.

Feel free to do a internet search on the above scales and assess where your hair loss is at now.

Combat Hair Loss

A book I read recently dispel a long-withstanding theory that I have and which I believe many of you have about fighting hair loss!

I was shocked to read that this theory was actually a myth!

In the book, it was mentioned how many people (like me) thought that poor blood circulation is the CAUSE of hair loss and as such many people have resorted to scalp massage to improve blood circulation in their scalps in an attempt to stop hairfall.

In the book, it was pointed out poor blood circulation is the RESULT of hair loss instead! In an experiment, hairs were planted in a bald scalp and thereafter blood flow in the scalp was monitored. The result: blood flow in the scalp was increased!

Dutasteride

Do you know that beside the more popular hair loss oral drug Rogaine , there is also a form of oral treatment called Dutasteride?

However, from what I have read, Dutasteride is less scientifically proven than Rogaine and this may well explain why it is less popular and known than Rogaine.

Rogaine

If you are suffering from hair loss and have researched the market and pharmacies on what are the products you can choose to combat hair loss, you would have come across the the term 'Rogaine'.

So what is Rogaine?

Rogaine is the brand name for the topical medication (i.e applied externally) Minoxidil. Minoxidl, together with
Propecia (consumption medicine) are the only two scientifically proven drugs to
control hair loss.

In Singapore and in other countries, Minoxidil is sold either as Rogaine or as other brands like Regaine and Growell.

Propecia

Ever what is the difference between Propecia, Proscar and Finasteride? Let me give you the low down!

The only scientific-proven oral method to control hair loss is through the consumption of Finasteride.

Finasteride is sold in either 1 mg pills or 5mg pills.

The 1 mg pills are sold as Propecia while the 5mg pills are sold as Proscar.

For Proscar, users would normally use a pill cutter to cut the 5 mg pills into 4, consuming each portion of 1.25 mg at a time.

I hope you will find this sharing useful in your fight against hair loss.

Buy Wigs

If you are losing hair and are contemplating hair wigs as a solution, you must think twice before weeding out other hair loss restoration options!

Wearing a wig is not just as simple as covering your balding parts of the scalp with the wigs, there is quite a lot of adjustment to be done as wearing a wig is quite uncomfortable and one needs to wash, dry or does a lot of maintenance to the wig (includes sending these wigs back to manufacturer for cleaning) and hence incuring some maintenance costs.

Therefore, ask your wig seller more before considering this option. Best of all, learn to be confident being simply bald and being Thankful for still having a good body!

How to Prevent Hair Loss - Nine Easy Steps to Save Your Hair

By: Holly Franklin

As men start to mature unfortunately there are some physical changes. We start to get wrinkles and our bellies start to get bigger. One of the worst changes though and one that can keeps many a man awake at night is the loss of you hair.

Hair Loss actually begins for most men in their late 20's early 30's. The loss is most evident around the crown and temples. It is put down to a chemical called DHT. This hair loss can be stopped and even in some cases reversed with the use of certain hair technology systems (which we will come to later).
There are though a series of measure listed here that may seem obvious but if followed are easy steps that can naturally slow hair loss.

1. Don't pull you hair

By pulling ones hair you are placing strain on the hair follicle and may cause permanent damage which results in that particular follicle not being able to grow hair again.

2. Be careful not to rub you scalp against a towel to dry it.

The same reason as for not pulling your hair rubbing your scalp can damage a hair follicle. If possible pat away excess moisture and then leave the hair to dry naturally.

3. Don't use wigs (unless advised to by a doctor

The scalp needs to breathe for the hair follicles to work to their maximum effect. Using a wig suffocates the follicles and leads to damage which results in further thinning of the hair.

4. Use the correct shampoo according to your hair.

Follow the directions and use the right shampoo for your hair (i.e. for thin hair use a thin hair shampoo). Shampoos are formulated for a reason and giving your hair the most help possible is a good idea. Also never over wash your hair otherwise you deprive it of all its natural oils and it will lead to irreversible damage.

5. Don't use permanent or colorants.

Using any chemicals on the hair can lead to damage of the scalp and hair follicles and thus leading to these follicles no longer being able to support hair growth.

6. Always wash you hair thoroughly after using shampoo

Shampoo contains soap and chemicals and needs to be washed of thoroughly after use otherwise they will also ruin your scalp.

7. Don't eat greasy food.

Your hair is a good way to measure you health. In fact scientist now use one single strand of hair to test if a person has been taking drugs or test if a person maybe allergic to any foods. The old nugget "You are what you eat" is never more accurate than with your hair. Treat your body well and you hair will show the benefit.

8. Don't led your head get sunburn (Be careful of exposure

If you are going out in the sun be sure to use cream on your exposed scalp or use a hat so that you don't damage your scalp and follicles.

9. Wash your hair after bathing in the sea or in a chlorine swimming pool.

This is for similar reasons to making sure you wash you hair after shampoo. Washing your hair gets rid of the salt/chlorine making sure your that your hair and scalp are protected.

These simple steps will help any man to slow down the effects of hair loss. There are other systems out there that can help revive hair follicles so that it can support hair growth again. Most of these systems use laser technology such as the Androhair laser comb for example.

Hair Restoration Procedure

By: Charles Browwn

Hair restoration is the surgical procedure aimed at permanently correcting male pattern baldness. It is a generic term to define a number of methods used to restore hair to balding areas. Hair restoration methods involve topical, oral and surgical treatments.

Various methods of hair restoration surgery

There are various methods of hair restoration surgery for you to choose from. The two chief methods that you can opt for are – a.) Scalp Flap Surgery and b.) Scalp Reduction Surgery.

A. Scalp flap surgery – It entails moving a flap of skin and underlying tissues from one scalp area to the other. The surgeon first cuts out a section of the scalp where there is no hair growth He then replaces it by a flap of hair-bearing scalp. The size and placement of the flap will depend on your requirements. You do not need to worry about the scar. It will be covered by the relocated hair.

The objective of this hair restoration method is used to rectify a non-traumatic cosmetic defect. It is also used to repair a traumatic injury site and restore its functionality and cosmetic appearance. Another use of scalp flap surgery is repairing a skin defect caused by congenital malformation. The advantages of this hair restoration surgery procedure include natural frontal hairline, proper hair placement in temporal areas, hair pattern distortion avoidance, etc. However, it runs the risk of certain side effects. They include permanent hair loss at donor sites, scarring at donor or recipient sites, blood supply failure to the flap, etc.

Scalp Reduction Surgery – Scalp reduction surgery is the hair restoration procedure usually meant for people with posterior baldn
B. ess. It is into removing bald scalp and bringing the half-bearing scalp closer to it to fill in the bald area in the scalp. In this hair restoration surgery the surgeon reduces the baldness by cutting out a segment of the bald scalp skin. The hair restoration process in scalp reduction surgery has two parts. The first part includes the surgical removal of the bald portion of the scalp. The other part entails hair-bearing scalp being upwardly stretched to replace the bald scalp that has been removed. You many need the scalp reduction surgery to be conducted in combination with the surgical procedure called brow lifting. This procedure removes the frown lines from the forehead and crow’s feet from around the eyes. In your case this surgical procedure can be carried out through scalp extension or scalp expansion device. In this technique the hair-bearing scalp skin is stretched causing better coverage to bald areas of the scalp. This hair restoration surgery is often combined with hair transplantation. What’s the objective? Well, one possible objective is to “fine tune” hair restoration in your anesthetically sensitive areas. One example of such an area is your frontal hairline.

The scalp reduction surgery can be conducted before, during or after hair transplantation. The appropriate time will be identified mainly on the basis of your need. How to decide which scalp reduction technique is correct for you? That depends on various factors like your hair loss degree, laxity of the scalp, donor hair amount, etc. The possible complications and side effects that you may face include scarring at the suture lines, scalp skin “stretch back” at the excised bald area and central midline scar called slot deformity.

Recent advances in hair transplantation – The emergence of some relatively recent advances in hair transplantation techniques offer better surgery outcomes for pattern baldness. These new hair restoration techniques are less complicated and painful.

Follicular Unit Transplantation – At present it is considered to be the most reliable hair transplant technique. Its success rate is almost 10 per cent. A follicular unit is a physiological unit that needs to be extracted and transplanted as an intact unit. Its advantages include natural looking hair, more effective surgery due to the use of stereoscopic microscopes for dissection, avoidance of damage to the follicular unit, etc. However, it is a time consuming procedure.

Direct Hair Implant (DHI) – The minimally invasive hair transplant procedure for follicular hair transplant, DHI is free from the use of scalpel, stitches and a donor strip. The technique is based on the transportation technique named Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). FUE exemplifies the latest extraction procedure for follicular unit transplants procedure. FUE includes the use of custom-made, precise micro-surgical tools. There is direct extraction of follicular units one by one, instead of dissection. One main advantage of FUE is possibility of quality control during the transplantation procedure. Besides, it is a simple and painless procedure.

Choosing the right clinic

Be very careful while choosing your hair restoration clinic. A standard clinic will successfully help you realize your hair restoration dream. On the other hand the selection of a wrong clinic will lead to a faulty service. The various factors that determine the credibility of a clinic include the feedback of former patients, legal status (i.e. whether any lawsuits are pending against the clinic), the professional kills of the surgeon, etc.

Female Hair Loss Cure

By: john

It seems that female hair loss is manifesting more in young women today than ever before. Female hair loss is of course a very individual process, depending upon several individual factors. More often than not hair loss generally begins in thinning somewhere around the age of 50 and even later for some individuals, with more of a thinning of the hair at the crown and may not be a pattern that is recognizable as male pattern hair loss or alopecia. There can be a number of causes of female hair loss. As we have discussed hormonal levels can be a causative factor. However the biggest contributing factor to hair loss in women is genetic factors. At present there are hair loss treatments that can help with genetic female hair loss. These need to be checked with your doctor of course as there are new developments constantly occurring in the treatment of genetic hair loss in women.

The reasons for Female hair loss are basically physical stress; after-effects of surgery, anemia and quick change in weight are other causes for hair loss in females. Generally women are said to be very emotional in nature, while some are not so emotional. Therefore emotional stress such as illness of a mental nature or death in the family and some form of depression also contribute towards female hair loss. There may be certain medical health conditions that may also cause female hair loss. Especially abnormalities due to thyroid and medications for gout and blood pressure can also lead to hair loss in females.Wigs or hair thickeners - theses cosmetic female hair loss products may help you save a lot of time, money and discomfort using other kinds of products.

Sometimes female hair loss is a symptom of an underlying medical condition. Such conditions that can cause female balding include polycystic ovary syndrome. Other conditions include autoimmune disorders. These autoimmune disorders can cause alopecia areata, hair loss in a less dramatic level. Alopecia areata is an inflammatory condition which can make hair come out in patches or clumps. You shouldn't panic when you notice the first signs of thinning hair. However, you ought to take action to forestall more thinning of your hair. First, ascertain what is causing your hair loss, is it a new diet or some pills you have started to take, perhaps you changed your shampoo . The answer may be as easy as changing a prescription or your hairstyle. When, you have located the cause of hairloss than the treatment for female hair loss will be more efficient .

Women who are not yet in their menopause period can still experience hormonal imbalance if they regularly take contraceptive pills. Be informed that contraceptive pills also involve the secretion of estrogen, making its levels less optimum for potential pregnancy.

Regaine

Yesterday, while at a pharmacy, I spotted a box of Regaine selling at $65.

Well, the price of regaine was intially much higher than $65 when I first blogged about it. Minoxidil the most original brand was selling at around $98 then,

Minoxidil is the only scientific proven hair loss treatment beside Propecia though many have argued that their side effects are also aplenty.

Prevent Hair Loss

Stop Hair Loss

To stop further hair loss, I would recommend that one starts first by preventing further hair loss.

To do this, ensure your scalp is clean by thoroughly cleansing your scalp, ridding it of dandruff, dirt and other forms of grease.

Only when the scalp is clean then can we talk about growing back our hair. We need to ensure scalp follicles are healthy and the way to do it is to ensure no blockage of dirt, grease and dust on them.

Preventing Hair Loss - 5 Tips That Can Prevent Your Hair Loss

By: Bryan Len

There are some health problems that may not directly harm any body system or its organs but then too, they hold a great importance. This is because such issues are cosmetically very important. One of such issues is hair loss or hair fall. Here, the hair fall may not harm any body system or organ but socially, it may hurt one's feelings and may have effects on individual's look, beauty and overall personality.

Hair loss could be due to many reasons. In some, the hair fall is due to stress and anxiety whereas in others it could be due to hormonal insufficiency. Hair loss is also because of hereditary factors where a special attention is required. Let us now learn some basic tips for preventing hair loss.

Preventing hair loss tip 1: Do not comb your hair when they are wet. This is because when the hair is wet, its root is bit weakened for a while. Combing hair in this situation may induce more hair fall and hence to be avoided. Also, while combing hair, never use too sharp toothed comb and the comb should also be wide-toothed. Gentle hair set is required to prevent hair loss.

Preventing hair loss tip 2: Yoga and Pranayama is said to be technique that helps in preventing hair loss. However, to see results, one should perform it on a regular basis.

Preventing hair loss tip 3: Eat dark, green and leafy vegetables and fresh fruits that help in providing necessary nutrients such as vitamins and minerals that help in stopping further loss of hair.

Preventing hair loss tip 4: There are many herbs that help in preventing hair loss and hence can be adopted. Herbs such as shikakai, amalaki (Indian gooseberry), brahmi, bhringaraj, mehndi are few of the herbs those have been used since many centuries. Ayurvedic texts have good descriptions about these herbs and their role in strengthening the hair root and hence making them strong and shiny.

Preventing hair loss tip 5:
Massaging the head using medicated solution, gel, cream or oil is good to prevent further loss of hair. Ayurvedic herbs such as Amla oil, Bhringraj oil, Baadam oil are good to massage on the head on a regular basis. This helps in nourishing the hair root and massaging also improves the blood circulation in the scalp that means it gets nourishment.

There is nothing much to do about hair loss because of heredity. The chromosomes responsible for the baldness in men are located on the X-Chromosomes and hence, men are more likely to become bald as compared to female. When it is a question of genes anomalies, it is difficult to prevent the hair loss and ultimately, it can be treated taking the help of modern techniques such as surgeries (hair transplant) but again, for prevention, no modern medicine seems to have promising results. And that is why, a person whose father has baldness must be careful and nourish his hair with proper medicated herbal oils and should perform regular exercises and Yoga.

By: Dr.Anees

The worse part

of getting older is joint aches and loss of hair. Chances of getting bald are more if you are a male and your age is more than 45. Alopecia or male pattern baldness is genetic in character. Medical hair transplants are used by many people every year with surprising results to over come this problem. But hair transplant is the last solution of hair loss problem. Some hair loss remedies are available in the market for hair loss prevention. Moreover, you can stop hair loss with the use of best hair loss products (allopathic). With the use of hair loss products, you can simply stop hair loss, no new hair growth will occur.

Alopecia or male pattern baldness is not a scalp related problem. Alopecia occurs as a result of chemical reaction between oil glands found in the hair follicle and testosterone. When testosterone (male hormone) transforms into DHT, reaction causes follicle to shrink. But there are hair loss products available on the market, which works against the production of DHT. You must buy a hair loss product, which contains ingredients like pro-vitamin B5, saw and palmetto zinc. These kinds of hair loss product are designed to keep your hair on your head.

If you want to stop hair loss, you are recommended to use hair loss products like Propecia and Rogaine. These hair loss products are available at drug stores and you can even order Rogaine online. If it is already late and you are bald or have significant thinning, then you must think for a hair loss treatment. Medical hair restoration will be the best option for your problem. Results will be full head of natural hair. This process is not painful, but you will feel some swelling and discomfort. Your dermatologist will help you to select a hair loss product or hair transplant process, which will meet your expectations.

Hair Loss in Women

The Causes of Hair Loss in Women

By: Endah Purwani

You're not alone if you're experiencing breakage, increased hair shedding or significant hair loss.
Hair loss in women is most often very gradual and is more easily affected by hormonal changes, medical conditions, and external factors. Hair loss in women is no less distressing than in men. More often women s hair loss is limited to the thinning of the hair especially around the crown area. A receding hair line is rare in women. It usually starts with the hair follicle becoming thinner, revealing more skin.

Hair loss or hair shedding is consistent within the hair growth cycle and it is normal to lose some scalp hair each day. The average human scalp has roughly 100,000 to 150,000 individual hairs and the normal hair growth cycle results in the loosening or shedding of about 100 to 150 hairs on a daily basis. New hair growth then emerges from these same previous dormant hair follicles, growing at the average rate of about half an inch per month.

Baldness or Alopecia happens when the normal pattern of hair growth is disrupted. The normal pattern of human hair growth is growing, resting, shedding and growing again. For a woman, thick, vibrant hair is our crowning glory, our vanity visible. Our culture strongly identifies femininity with a thick, silky head of hair. Society unfairly identifies dry, lack luster and thinning hair with old age, sickness and poverty.

Reasons for hair loss include physical, emotional, and genetic conditions. Hair loss can occur from many common causes that most women do not even think of. The number of women who suffer from stress and hair loss is growing. Stress leads to various health conditions which cause hair loss.

A woman's hair is at its thickest by age 20. Once we pass 20, however, our hair gradually begins to thin, shedding more than the normal 100-150 hairs a day. For even the elderly woman, significant hair loss can threaten self image.

Female pattern baldness or Androgen tic Alopecia is the most common type of hair loss in women and is genetic in nature. The result is a shorter hair growth cycle, finer hair and excessive hair loss from shedding and breakage.

Coming off birth control pills and pregnancy can cause hair loss. Women may experience hair loss 2 - 3 months after having a baby.

Progesterone is another hormone that precisely targets the hair during menopause. It compensates by producing extra androstenedione, which prevents hair growth. Usually hair will return to its original thickness following menopause.

A healthy balanced diet, regular exercise, hydration and rest can go a long way towards preventing hair loss and maximizing the potential of your hair growth cycle.

Nutrition

Poor nutrition is often an underlying cause of hair loss as the hair is a reliable indicator of nutritional well being. Dull hair color or dry and brittle hair may be indicators of a deficiency in essential fats in the diet, oily hair may be a sign of a B vitamin deficiency.

Low-fat foods that rank high in protein, low in carbohydrates, can play a vital role in sustaining healthy hair growth and aid in preventing hair loss. Harsh chemicals may strip the natural oils from your hair and lead to breakage and poor hair growth. Dye, hair straightening and permanent solutions are highly destructive to the hair shaft and follicle as well as the delicate sebum balance of the scalp.

Be gentle with your hair. Allow hair to dry naturally rather than using a hair dryer. Wet hair is weak hair so handle with care.

Try not to constantly run your fingers through your hair, tug at the hair and avoid hair clips or rubber bands that pull at and break off the hair. Minimize the usage of mousse, gels and hair sprays. These products dry and weigh down the hair shaft and dull the natural luster of your hair.
Harsh hair treatment such as pulling with brushes, tight braiding and styling with irons and strengtheners can be a cause of female thinning hair.

Sun worshippers should make sure that hair care products have sunscreen properties to protect hair from the damaging affects of UV rays.

Hair loss is traumatic, however our hair is only part of who we are. Remember, that for some hair grows back as mysteriously as it disappeared

Finding what has caused your hair loss will greatly increase your chances of finding the right treatments to help re grow your hair.

Hair Loss

Hair Loss-cause, Prevention and Treatment

The adult scalp contains about 100,000 hair follicles. Everyday the scalp loses about 100 hairs and they will grow back in 5-6 weeks. Starting at age 40, the levels of by-product prolactin of testosterone of men increases, stimulating the production of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase that causes the conversion of testosterone to gihydro-testosterones DHT causing our hair to grow back thinner or not grown back at all. This causes an androgenic alopecia hair loss problem, since DHT shrinks the follicles causing hair thins and hair receding at the forehead, crown and temple for men and thins over the entire scalp for women. What causes hair loss.

1. The Causes of Hair Loss
a) Aging
Human aging is the biological process that is unavoidable but controllable with healthy diet with complex carbohydrates, green foods, garlic, onion, water and juices that will help to decrease the aging process in some degree. It also helps to reduce the amount of DHT produced in our body, result in postponing hair loss to our scalp.

b) Mineral deficiency
Minerals such as calcium, iron, copper, chromium, iodine, zinc, and magnesium are necessary to maintain healthy hair growth. Mineral deficiency will reduce the chance to regulate the blood circulation that promotes healthy hair growth and thyroid hormones that prevent dry hair and hair loss as well as defects in hair color. Too much iron is toxic to your body. Be sure to talk to your doctor before taking any mineral supplement.

c) Oxygen deficiency
Oxygen deficiency in your blood weakens the hair follicles, leading to dryness of the scalp and hair loss. Uncontrolled diet that is high in saturated fat causes cholesterol building up in your arteries resulting in less oxygen in your blood stream. Also cigarette smoking and second hand smoke reduces the blood flow and increases the blood clotting activity of cells which would clog the blood flow and damage arteries causing oxygen deficiency and results in weaken of the hair follicles.

d) Side affects of medication taken
Some medications contains elements that might cause hair loss such as lithium, warfarin, heparin, and amphetamines. When hair loss is a side effect of a medication, hair growth usually returns to normal once the drug is stopped.

e) Genetic hair loss
Hair loss is due to heredity. It is passed down from generation to generation. Genetic hair loss appears predominately in men, but may also appear in a few select women.

2. Food to Avoid

Foods that can cause hair loss and diminish hair growth.

a) Saturated and Trans fat
Foods such as meat, poultry, and fried foods contain high saturated fat. Foods such as margarine, cheese, and butter contain high amounts of trans fat. These foods cause cholesterol to build up in your arteries and small veins in your scalp resulting in less oxygen being delivered to the cell in your body, including the cells on the follicles.

b) Foods that contain Aspartame and Monosodium Glutamate
Monosodium Glutamate contain chemicals that causes weight gain, increased appetite and also causes various kinds of health problems such as hair loss.
Aspartame contains toxic chemicals that make you gain weight, increases hunger and causes medical problems like migraines and poor blood circulation.

c) Smoking
As we mentioned in the previous article, smoking can reduce blood flow to the scalp causing hardening in the arteries, limit blood flow and make hair loss worse.

d) Artificial Color
Artifiicial color contains chemical compounds that take their toll on the body's natural balance.
Specific foods to avoid include colored drinks, color-coated candies, gummy and chewy candies, and many colored cereals.

e) Preservatives
These are potentially toxic to the liver and kidneys that cause hair loss and prevent hair growth as we mentioned in the article "Hair loss part IV--regrow hair with Chinese herbs".

f) Food Packaging
Polyvinyl chloride is a known carcinogen, and it's often used as plastic food wrap. It is toxic with high amounts causing damage to the kidney and liver resulting in hair loss.

g) Salt
Eating too much salt can lead to fluid retention and increased blood pressure that cause less oxygen to be delivered to the body's cells including cells in your scalp in result of losing hair.

3. Hair Loss Prevention and Treatment

I. Here are some important minerals that may help to prevent hair loss and promote hair re-growth:

a) Iron
Iron is involved in the oxygenation of your body's red blood cells. It is essential for normal hair growth and maintaining healthy hair. If the amount of iron can not be replaced with food intake, iron deficiency will cause hair loss because of oxygen deficiency.

b) Zinc
It helps to secrete the scalp with much needed oil and avoid dandruff that may cause hair loss.

c) Copper
Study shows that these tripeptide complexes may actually be able to regrow hair, even in patients with total hair loss due to alopecia. Healthy tissue concentrations of copper lie between 1.7 and 3.5 milligrams. Everything else will cause hair loss.

d) B vitamins
The deficiency of B vitamins (especially B6, B3, B5 and folic acid) in your diet may lead to hair loss.

e) Biotin
Biotin works as an anti aging agent and helps to produce keratin in preventing gray hair and hair loss.
Sources of biotin are: whole grains, egg yolks, liver, rice and milk.

f) Vitamin A
Vitamin A is important for over-all good health. It's also beneficial to hair follicles, as it keeps the hair root lubricated. Too much vitamin A might result in hair loss.

g) Vitamin E
Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant that aids effective circulation in the scalp due to increased oxygen uptake in blood, therefore it plays an important role in promoting hair growth and preventing hair loss.

h) CQ-10
Coenzyme Q10 (CQ-10) is an essential vitamin that provides our body with the nutrients needed to grow healthy hair. They also promote overall vitality, and contribute to beautiful skin and strong nails.

Essential fatty acid can be found abundant in cold water fish. It helps to maintain healthy cholesterol and reduce triglyceride in result of increasing circulation of blood flow in our body.

6. Nut and seed
Nuts and seeds are fatty foods which are typically the best sources of vitamin E, an immune enhancing antioxidant and nerve protector. Deficiency of vitamin E can lead to skin disorders, dry hair and loss of hair.

7. Carrots
Carrots contain high amounts of vitamin A. It is an antioxidant that helps produce healthy sebum in the scalp. Having too much vitamin A can lead to hair loss.
There are many other foods that help promote hair growth and prevent hair loss, such as fruits, egg, spinach, and broccoli.

Be sure to talk to your doctor before taking large amounts of the above foods. There may be side effects, such as overdoses of vitamin A in carrot might result in hair loss.

e) Basil extract
Basil Extract from the natural flowers of the basil plant, works to quickly soothe and calm skin of the scalp.

f) Pumpkin Seed
Pumpkin seeds help to block DHT, which is responsible for genetic hair loss. This common seed is loaded with zinc and magnesium that have the ability to block enzymes which yield DHT causing damage to follicles and resulting in hair loss.

g) Buddleja Davidii Extract
Buddleja Davidii extract contain active ingredients protecting the skin against toxic radicals. It can also help reduce skin aging and protect the skin against the damage caused from stresses and toxins.

h) Green Tea
Green tea contains the chemical globulin that helps to reduce levels of free testosterone, so that it cannot be converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the hair follicle.
Be sure to talk to your doctor or dermatologist before taking any herb supplement.

IV. Traditionally Chinese herbs have been around for over 4000 years and have offered much success to prevent or cure diseases well before the discovery of western medicine. Hair loss is directly linked to kidney deficiency syndrome in Chinese traditional medicine. People with hair loss problems especially in their early life may have a weak Kidney. Here are some Chinese herbs that have been proven in treating hair loss and promoting hair growth

a) Dong Quai
Traditionally, Chinese woman used Dong Quai to restore blood cells and increase the circulation of oxygen in the bloodstream to cells after period. Dong Quai contains phytoestrogen that helps to block the androgen receptor site in result of blocking the conversion of testerone to DHT, therefore reducing the chance of hair loss due to aging.

b) Ginseng
Ginseng is said to have the power of rejuvenating and energizing the body. It also helps to stimulate circulation of oxygen in our bloodstream to the cells of our body as well as the cells in our scalp.

It is believed to work by affecting potassium- regulating mechanisms in the hair follicle. Study shows that it helps to slow and stop hair loss and regrow new hair with over 60 % success rate. Be sure talk to your doctor or dermatologist before taking minoxidil. It might cause rash to some patients.

2.Finasteride
Finastteride is an oral prescription medication. Finasteride is a synthetic hormone that halts hair loss and stimulates new hair growth. It is a medication that selectively inhibits the activity of an enzyme that converts the "male hormone" testosterone into a form that is active in hair follicles.

3.Rogaine
Rogaine is a clear alcohol-based solution and should be applied to a person's thinning area with it's supplied dropper or spray twice a day. It helps about 25 percent of men and 20 percent of women to grow back moderate amounts of hair very gradually, mostly on the very top of the head. They must keep using Rogaine indefinitely to keep the new hair.

4.Retin-A
Retin-A is only available by prescription in the US. In the right doses and when combined with Minoxidil it can be a hair growth stimulator. Studies shows that Retin- A can result in moderate hair growth in some patients.

5 Proscar
Proscar contains the same active ingredient finasteride. Proscar has the effect of lowering the hormone DHT, which interacts with bald vulnerable hair follicles and causes hair loss. By reducing the DHT in the patient's body the finasteride in the Proscar proved to slow and even stop or reverse hair loss in many men.

Herbal Hair Loss Treatment

By: Paulina Jenkins

There are new hopes for those men and women who suffer from hair loss. Today there are an increased number of hair loss treatment options. Each hair loss treatment has a different success rate. With this medical condition it is best to seek a hair loss treatment at the onset of unusual hair loss. Very often if this disorder is not attended to it could eventually lead to baldness.

Minoxidil is a topical FDA approved hair loss treatment for women sold as Rogaine. This hair loss treatment is a pre-mixed solution in liquid form. This baldness hair loss treatment is applicable for both men and women. However, it tends to be more a mens hair loss treatment. Side effects are rare but often subside when the baldness hair loss treatment stops. Acne, headaches, blurred vision and lightheadness are some of the possible side effects. People who suffer from chest pains, palpitations, sudden weight gain, and fainting and heart problem should avoid using this hair loss treatment.

Finasteride is another FDA approved hair loss treatment for women and men and it is sold under drug names of Propecia and Proscar. Propecia is a pill that has to be taken orally everyday. It is mainly a mens hair loss treatment. Women who are pregnant must refrain from using Finasteride. Very often this baldness hair loss treatment can cause side effects. Rash, hives, itching, ejaculation problem, testicular pain and breast tenderness are some the common side effects. Propecia has a success rate of 80% as reported by its users. Propecia and Rogaine only work for hair loss occurring at the crown.

For those who have the money to spend there are permanent natural hair loss treatments such as hair weaving and hair transplants. In most cases people only resort to these hair loss treatments after achieving no results with other baldness hair loss treatments.

Laser hair loss treatment is another method that is available on the market today. This baldness hair loss treatment is most suitable for those who have just begun losing hair. Of course, there is always the hairpiece option which is readily available and not costly.

However hair loss treatments that use pharmaceutical medicines and surgery are expensive and come with some risks and harmful side effects. Hair loss in men is mainly caused by the male hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone) in the body. In the case of women the causes could be either childbirth or hormones or hereditary thinning (alopecia) or menopause or hormone imbalance. Drug free hair loss treatment is clearly the best hair loss treatment possible as an alternative for conventional drugs, medications or surgery. Herbal hair loss treatment products are free of side effects and very affordable. These hair loss treatment herbal supplements have proven effective in stopping, preventing hair loss and stimulate regrowth of hair.

On the market there are excellent hair loss treatment herbal products that can be used by both men and women. For centuries drug free hair loss treatment herbs have been used by different cultures. Saw palmetto, rosemary, grape seed, bilberry and nettle are probably the most effective and popular herbal hair loss treatment herbs. These hair loss treatment herbal products blend special nutrients and herbs to inhibit DHT and to promote the regrowth of hair. To cure baldness, to stop hair loss and to regrow hair the hormone DHT in the body must be suppressed in men. For women the drug free hair loss treatment must be able to promote the growth of hair follicles.
